Design thinking is not limited to just tech skills, it goes beyond that. In the Shetech’s project, we train girls to have soft skills; skills that can sell and make them independent; skills they can use to impact their communities, societies and globe at large.

Cohort 2 (positive impact)

Eileen Brewer (Tech mentor Silicon Valley Austin)

Eileen Brewer had a session with the girls, where she talked about the processes of design thinking.

PROCESSES OF DESIGN THINKING

-Empathy

-Define

-Ideate

-Prototype

-Taste

Empathy, stood out for most of the girls it also suggests having people in mind while thinking of designs.

To define means to state the problem.

Ideate:  creating solutions that fits an environment within and without, has to do with creating designs that has the potentials of transforming the lives of people and nations.

Prototype: and earlier model or concept, which led to the success of a design, should not in any way be neglected.

Taste: one needs to have personal concepts, that gives quality, the taste of persons to which this designs will finally reached, should be kept in view also.

INCLUSIVENESS OF DESIGN THINKING

Nigerians and Africans can create solutions to problems, which pertains to us because it creates diversity in humanity.

In essence, design thinking pushes one to discover the potentials hidden in them.
